someone left this comment at "women's space the margins"

"Heart, this is horrible. I¹m sorry that this is happening to you.
These people want nothing to do but to hurt you and your cause. I feel for
you.

In fact, I want to feel you now. I¹d like to tie you down, take a
knife, and slit your throat. I¹d penetrate you over and over in all
orifices, and create some of my own to stick myself in."

And to this commenter I direct the following:

I have to wonder what you're really getting at here. Are you just trying to get a rise out of her? take the piss, as the british say?

I know it's fun to throw a little molotov cocktail-type comment like that into her internet living room, and watch everyone scurry like roaches to rush to her defense. But here's the problem with this particular type of attack - it doesn't work. It backfires. Nobody is looking at you like you're a hero - in fact you look like a moron and she looks like the Queen of Womanly Virtue.

I'm not saying that Heart is any great example of Human Brilliance - but the way you went after her only allows her and her pals to weep and moan and complain "see, see how men hate us? see how terrible those terrible men are? oh, woe is us! woe is us!"

which allows her to gain strength from all the "go sister" comments and praise she gets when she bitches about your comment. and with that strength she continues to spread her dubious philosophy like cow manure all over the internet. is that really what you had in mind?

Now, I'm not trying to tell you how to be or how to conduct your online life. But Heart and her gang are so dramatically illogical and irrational - why go for the low-hanging fruit of being sexually threatening, when you can actually address her on a more level playing field?

Just a thought. Knock off the immature bullshit and use your head next time.

Comments:
think about it, you knuckledragging drooling idiot - what would Sun-tzu say?

consummate trolls, and way beyond sweet reason, but it's a nice thought.

I am the eternal optimist, belle. ;)

Well, and also . . . because although Heart is a big bucket of crazy, it's never okay to say that to anyone.

It doesn't matter whether it's a victory for the person saying it, a victory for the person hearing it, a victory for nobody, etc. There's some shit you just don't say.

true enough, myca.

well, i hope the merry prankster in question tries phoning in a bomb threat to an airport next; that's -always- good for laughs. especially when they get caught.

Yeah, an incredibly stupid comment that gives fuel to the fire and should never be said. Then again, maybe Heart posted it herself to gain sympathy. Not saying this is so, but one never knows - I'm always suspicious when another Riechstag burns. But of course, there are also plenty of idiots out there with computers. Just a random thought I thought I'd share.

They traced the hack to online boards that are known for this kind of shit. they attacked IBTP too, i think.

It proves the notion that if people like this didn't exist, they'd have to make them up to support their thesis. Thanks alot, Mr. Troll, for providing just the amunition they've been lusting over.

Moron!

I second Myca.

I was thinking on this last night.

and it bred a couple new thoughts.

1) what would be the worst POSSIBLE thing anyone could say to me? could I take it so cavalierly as I claim to be taking this comment by this jerk? (NO! not myca's comment! the troll! the troll!)

2) does anyone think that this fellow really really wants to commit mutilating homicide? I'm thinking, probably not, though of course no one can say for sure. but the chance of getting away with such a thing dramatically decreases when one tips his hand.

Well, and it's not as if Heart and her people are the only ones who ever receive comments and such like that...and while such comments are damn vile...it's always nice to see that some folk over there figure the rad fems are the only ones who ever hear and get them, where as certain yay porn people are just never, ever, beset upon by such unarticulate and annoying trolls with such witty widsom to share.

People who piss folk off get hate mail and threats, regardless of gender or politics. Doesn't excuse the behavior, but it's far more wide spread and equally distriubted than merely "men hate rad fems".

it's the best thing to happen to her campaign, really.

And vice versa, really.

I still think the MRA's and the more-radical-than-thou feminists need to get a room somewhere and let the rest of us get on with it.

Words fail me. I suppose the best thing we can say about this person is that at least he managed to express his moronic hatefulness with correct spelling.

But really -- is Heart even worth this kind of fury? She kinda pissed me off when she was ruling over the Ms. Magazine forums, because I know that there were women there who were cowed into submission by her anti-sex, anti-male rants, but now that she's alone in her own little queendom, she can be safely ignored.

A troll is at least something that everyone can feel superior to.

"it's far more wide spread and equally distributed than merely "men hate rad fems".

men don't hate rad fems...just the crazy insane ones like the previously mentioned.

fs201 -
I see what you're saying, but one guy (you, for example) can't speak for all men with any more accuracy than one woman (say, me, or Belle, or Heart herself) can speak for all women.

I assure you, there's some fellow (fellows, more likely) out there who really does hate all radical feminists, just on accounta because.

which is irrational.

a further note - watch where you're throwing that word "crazy", darlin'. some of my best blogpals and most faithful readers, not to mention at least two of your nearest-n-dearest relatives, are part of the Mental Health System.

what I mean to say is - a political philosophy (no matter how fucked-up) is not a diagnosis. it's easy to call something (or someone) "crazy", but it's not always accurate.

"Irrational", "illogical", even "stupid" if you want to go there - but seldom is "crazy" the appropriate word.

not trying to get all "PC" on your ass - it's just a little pet peeve of mine.

hello Chris H! don't believe I've seen you here before - welcome!

(of course, I could be totally wrong. if so, hi again and please pardon my poor memory!)

AP, in light of what you have said I will retract and qualify what I said.

I as one person, one guy, a representative, if you will of the male populous do not hate rad fems...only ones who are irrational, illogical, stupid, and for the most part belong in the Mental Health System.

Also Ap, maybe she is insane and needs help.

I feel that covers it a little better.

ugh, that comment was so disgusting it made me feel physically ill.

on a really unrelated note, I've been meaning to contact you but I don't have your email address and wanted to invite you to write over at our blog (it's an "our" now) if you are at all interested...

oh, hi Silvia_Sea!
