you know all those rules I set up way back in april? about being civil and not punking and crap?
screw 'em.

The more civil I am, the more I wind up looking like a horse's ass.

so, fuck it. I'm out of other cheeks to turn, and can't in good conscience impose a rule on my blog that I myself can't follow.

I can't seem to keep a civil tongue in my fingers for love or money on anyone else's blog - it's the height of hypocrisy to try to maintain any standards of civility on mine.

got something to say? go for it. I'm still not going to mod you, no matter who you are.

but I can't say I'll be as gentle in my discourse with you as I used to be if you piss me off. (yeah, I know - no big threat. just let me have my little temperfit in peace, wouldya?)

look - this is mostly whadayacallit - displacement. I'm ashamed of myself so I'm taking it out on the blogosphere and I probably should be able to restrain myself but I seem to be having a little trouble with that lately.

so if you had anything to say in the last four months, but kept your mouth shut to avoid a scolding, have at it - before cooler heads prevail and I change my mind.

Comments:
I realize it's gonna just make me look like the Bad Influence I am to stand up and applaud wildly, but: I am.

aw. bless your white cotton socks.

your selfish, colonizing white cotton socks.

my socks just don't care about anyone else. it is true.

maybe your socks should go sell themselves on the street for a few months and think about what they've done...

dude - the more I think about it the angrier and more ashamed I get.

Not to tell you what to feel, but you've more than done your time with the shame. anyhoo certainly no need on my account.

anger, though...

yeah.

bwah! just noticed your new, um, look...

Ah, don't take no shit, ap. Seriously, even the one person that came close to talking trash at my place was civil about it, and if I were you, I would have lost it by now. Your civility has been rewarded with...crap and condescension, and you're a bigger woman than I would ever be for not smacking down viciously. But I say go for it. Do what you gotta...

And you know, even the original cheek turner got pissed enough to start flipping over tables in the temple at one point.

Did you love "Last Temptation" like I loved "Last Temptation"?

that temple scene was hea-VY.

this too shall pass, I'm sure.

I realize my recent name change has rendered me un-worksafe...D'oh...

I'm taking suggestions.

I love Last Temptation with a mighty love, though I can't see Harry Dean Stanton any more without hearing "I was Sawul. Now I'm Pawul!"

Oh, and AP: You go.

Thanks, dan - you're a helluva guy.

but I don't rock nearly as hard as
Miriam:

dear antip:

good for you for not taking anyone's hooey!

and kablooey on them!

yer groovy.

new new title: excellent.

(want me to update the blogroll?)

bd - sure.

I figured such title could not possibly meet with disapproval from any faction.

(killing myself laughing)

I left 'em both up in case some people come looking for the site under the old name.

> "I was Sawul. Now I'm Pawul!"

"Saul Paul, he's-a my all..."

wait, is there a new url? or is there a new title with the same url?

same URL, new *improved* title.

scroll to the top of the page, mwt.

oh, i saw it, i just wasn't sure i was seeing the "right" thing.

heart ya back, whitters.

your sebastian bach post was awesome, btw. I laughed, I cried, I fell in love.

you know - this is not the first time I've fallen in with the wrong crowd...

Better a selfish me'ist than a selfish you'ist.

or they'ist.

appropos of nothing, but when I read this:

I like both new titles, but I understand why you went with this one.

at first I thought it said "I like both new titties."

I'm going to hell. straight to hell.

I love the new name, and if the majority proves that being civil is overrated, well then, by all means, they are certainly right, no?

Eh, screw the majority (only if they pay you though) and civility is overrated....

AP, you have been more that gracious. I've been amazed at it time and time again. You SO deserve to deliver a great big "FUCK YOU" to the bullies who keep kicking you in the shins (or patting you on the head), well. I'm applauding as well!!

I'm really not sure I know what the hell "colonizing" even means, in this context.

I'll cop to COLON-izing, though. As in, "If you can't even bother listening, shove it up your ass."

(Renegade Evolution does rock, indeed. The blogroll, it swells.)

>So I know I've expressed my frustration with politesse before--mostly when Hugo and Amp cling to it--and I readily admit that it's not how I operate. Still, I do appreciate people who are either talented at diplomacy or dedicated to it. I don't think there's any shame in giving people more credit than they deserve. Her tactics are her problem, not yours. >

As so often, what piny said.

I believe pony was the one who made the "colonizing" remark, wasn't she? If so I wouldn't bother to spend much time in analyzing, really.

specifically she was referring to the non-antiporn stance as being a third-wave thing made possible by the "colonization" of feminism by men. At the time, I guess. by which I think she means infiltration...? maybe somehow?

I don't think she cited any actual men guilty of colonization.

BUT I'm not sure that's the case. I think one could be non-antiporn in the mid-70s - early 80s, as evidenced by COYOTE and separately Dorothy Allison et al, well before the third wave yes? if I did my math right?

this is pony, right?

pony thinks that anal sex is a (sinister) idea invented by the patriarchy; i guess i shouldn't be surprised that she also chalks up any non-anti-porn stance to the influence of menmenmen.

and once again we are back with the curious phenomenon of how Sex Wars that were primarily between differing camps of *lesbians* becomes all about...men.

well assuming we even want to take it that seriously.

anyway the anti-porn crusades and so on had been going on for a while; but i b'lieve the BDSM wars were on before the shit really hit the fan wrt the Dworkin/MacKinnon ordinances (thus involving straight women & men a lot more directly).

maybe it happened simultaneously, i'm not sure.

anyway.

i mean if you really believe it's all "us" and "them," then ultimately shit like chronology doesn't matter much. the point is: it's THEM. you are with us or agin' us. world without end, amen.

eh - fuck politics anyway. tell me more about your little cotton socks.

they're white and have lace around the ankle.

and there's a hole over one toe.
